中文（臺灣）：此張照片為設立於八通關古道東端的出口之起標點石碑，其設立於日治時期，精確設立年代已難考證，但根據不同時期照片資料，可確定的是水泥材質的起標點柱是在1923年（大正12年）至1933年（昭和8年）之間設立。從其上的文字可以清楚地看到「八通關越道路起點」與「至臺中州廳界八二粁一四五」等字樣。其原本的位置是在玉里鎮民族路與中山路之交叉口處，也就是現今玉里電信局右側馬路正中央的位置，由水泥所建成。不過，大約在1960年代（民國50年代）前後，政府當局為了將玉里的道路加以拓寬，而將石柱拔起，即便當時地方人士曾建議應將其妥善保存，但部分首長認為其為日本人遺留之物，因此最終還是被搗毀。此影像收錄於《顧我洄瀾：花蓮歷史影像集》一書，為葉柏強先生撰寫、花蓮縣文化局於2016年（民國105年）出版。書中記錄了花蓮近百年的城市樣貌，是一本擁有豐富文史與圖像資料的書籍。 |
