中文（臺灣）：本文講述臺灣在日治時期的社會發展，從教育、政治、經濟甚至是外來傳入的民族、共產主義等等，多層次的研究角度來探討此時期臺灣人的思想演變與社會風氣的轉變。
本文共分為3個部分，一為1895年至1931年日本統治下的臺灣情況，論述在日本總督府施行各項統治政策的影響下，如教育制度革新、農業轉型與工商業興起與城鎮都市化等等，進而促使臺灣人產生新興的族群意識與菁英群體；二為民族主義與左派思想的出現，在1910、1920年代，日本實行新的統治模式－同化政策，再加上日本本國盛行「大正民主」主義的風潮下，使臺灣知識份子透過民族主義，發展出具有臺灣人本土意識的組織，如臺灣文化協會，進而發起多項民族運動，後來分成左右兩派民族主義組織，前者以馬克思列寧主義為中心，實行社會主義，甚至是激烈的革命手段；後者則是要求自決與政治權力的訴求等，雖說兩者理念不同，但皆受西方思想的影響，算是殊途同歸；三為日本共產黨臺灣分部之誕生，說明日治時期臺灣共產主義的興衰。初期由日共發起組織並領導臺共，但到後期，權力轉移至中共手中，勢力發展也隨著謝雪紅等人的逮捕而衰退。 臺灣在日治時期的社會運動與多元性發展之下，形成臺灣人獨有的意識形態。 |
