中文（臺灣）：本文為一篇區域性紀聞，以外地遊覽者的角度來介紹美濃當地的地理環境、風俗人文、產業、建築與景點等特色。
在美濃的主要居民為客家族群。早期，在對外交通不便的地理環境下，使當地民風為刻苦耐勞，倔強保守。菸草業與菸樓為美濃人重要的經濟產業與建築，但隨著工商業時代的來臨與交通逐漸便捷後，該產業也逐漸的式微了。另外，作者也從美濃當地的食衣住育樂的觀察來說明美濃客家人的性格與文化，在飲食方面，較為單調，缺少花俏多樣的口味；在衣著方面，尚樸素簡單，以花布短襯衫與素色長褲為主；在住宅方面，以大家族的三合院居多，建築風格樸素而少裝飾；在教育方面，美濃人非常重視子女的教育培養，甚至是鼓勵到外地發展求學；在娛樂方面，以愛好山歌為名，以當地的山川景色、生活等題材為歌唱的內容，從而表現出他們對於地方感情的認同。最後，簡單概述當地的觀光景點，如清代古蹟東門樓、用以灌溉的中圳湖、美濃紙傘廠與黃蝶翠谷的山林美景。 本篇描述美濃當地的諸多特色，使我們更了解該地區的地理環境、文化、經濟等層面，彼此間的發展是相互影響。 |
