中文（繁體）：1922年，因原住民抗日事件，及霍亂疫情，當時在「製糖公司北埔農場」工作的嘉村忠吾與友人，乃將家鄉日本的惠門山地藏尊，恭請到花蓮，並建木屋將地藏王菩薩供奉在茄苳樹下，讓這個地方因為信仰而得平安。二次大戰，早期的寺院被毀。直到1960年，在許聰敏老居士等善心人士的籌資下，重新建造並命名為「普明寺」。1963年，證嚴法師到花蓮，就在普明寺小木屋修行，爾後成立佛教克難慈濟功德會，舉辦第一次冬令救濟，而這項人道關懷如今拓展到全球七十四個國家地區。普明寺本殿約五坪，為1960年代鋼筋水泥建築，簡單古樸，仿古通風花窗，加上沉重厚實的兩扇大木門，頗具特色。山門門柱上，蓮花造型的柱頭亦十分精緻。
