| Description |
中文（臺灣）：此圖為日治時期的玉里社，可以清楚看見當時的參拜道與鳥居。玉里社，又可稱為玉里神社，創建於昭和3年（1928）。玉里社建於清朝吳光亮所開闢之八通關古道的東端出口附近，神社建立後，日本人將原先已在玉里大通上的「八通關橫斷越道路起點」之木柱，改為「八通關越道路起點」的水泥柱。不久後臺灣的登山潮興起，再加上此地為攀登玉山的入口之一（日治時期玉山以「新高山」為名」），所以也立了「新高登山東口玉里」之柱子。戰後，因玉里神社之遺址有著相當多具有經濟價值的建材，因此被拆毀、荒廢，直到現今才重新整修進行開放。 |
