中文（臺灣）：本文說明清領時期燕巢鄉的土地開發史，並透過探討開墾的單位、契約書、租金與貨幣等面向，來建構出當地開墾的情形。
本文首先論述燕巢鄉行政區域與相關墾殖背景，在清代是隸屬於鳳山縣管轄，並列舉出該區村莊，如援剿中庄、援剿右庄、千秋寮庄與滾水庄等村落，而早期當地的平埔族主要馬卡道族塔樓社為主，在鄭氏時期出有漢人軍隊進行軍屯，到了康熙、雍正與乾隆年間，隨著大量的官府的設立以及諸多漢人開墾集團的進入，平埔族的生活空間漸漸受到壓迫而遷移至山區。再者，介紹該地區土地開發田地的類型為帶大租與不附大租二種為主。並從地契古文書來觀察出當地土地開墾的發展脈絡，如漢番開墾的侵占問題與衝突現象。最後，羅列出有關地契提及的土地開發名詞與其意涵，如以墾首為主的大租戶業主、繳交的大租與廍餉等稅金、施琅攻臺後所接收之鄭氏田地為施侯田、清代給予地方官員開墾的權力為官庄、當時的體積、長度等土地測量單位與貨幣的使用，如西班牙、荷蘭與鄭氏時期流通的番銀、清代流通的六八足佛銀。 綜言上述，從歷史背景的形成、開墾土地種類與相關古地契的分析，使我們了解到燕巢鄉的拓墾歷程與族群互動之關係。 |
