| Description |
中文（臺灣）：本文論述燕巢鄉從鄭氏到戰後政府遷臺時期各地地名的由來、歷史發展、地理環境、族群組成等內容。
本文共分為三部分。一為燕巢名稱由來，是取自於鄭氏時期的軍隊在當地進行「援剿」之諧音，又因當地燕子眾多而得名。此外，分別羅列出在鄉內38個村落地名由來與特性，有的是因水文地形關係，如以瀑布為名的崎溜莊、有小土丘的鳳山厝莊和以泥火山為名的滾水坪莊、養女湖；當地的植被為名的竹仔腳、瓊仔林；與當地生活相關，如宰殺牲畜的豬灶仔、燒木炭為業的破車籠與居民買賣市集的青果市。有關歷史背景的地名如軍屯角宿莊、援剿中、傳說性質的烏鬼埔莊等地。二為鳳山厝，又名鳳雄村，說明該地的人口、地理位置與區域特色，其中，也提及鄉內的建築文化與自然美景，如在地供奉著清水祖師爺的廟宇──清水寺，為民眾的信仰中心，流經鳳雄村與橫山等地的河川──典寶溪，為早期村落小孩戲水的回憶之地。三為圓角中庄西燕村，雞冠山下金山村，深水村，分別介紹上述三個村落的位置、人口、沿革、經濟、宗教與水利等項目。 透過地理、歷史、文化等角度來觀察燕巢鄉當地的地名由來，藉此使我們更能了解家鄉的發展脈絡。 |
