中文（臺灣）：自大湖鄉開拓之初(咸豐11(1861)年)起算，吳氏家族即擔任要角、掌握墾拓資源分配。後代大致皆曾為大湖鄉民代表或議會代表，吳氏家族可說是長握大湖發展的權柄。大湖竹篙屋吳屋伙房為大湖地區重要開墾漢人吳氏家族之重要伙房。建築物準確興建年代依目前的文獻爬梳及資料調閱，尚無法得知，僅知於1935年關刀山大地震（新竹台中烈震）後重建。
