English: "Towering Old Tree" was created by artist Yang, Ying-feng in 1995 by carving a near thousand-year old yew wood. This work was made by four simple cuts to preserve formal features of the original wood, demonstrating the powerful momentum of natural life force in a simple and primitive way. In order to express the imposing manner of the thousnad-year old wood, it was unevenly stacked to create a form that displays the changing four seasons, climate and environment through its cross and longitudinal sections. It shows the beauty and grandeur of nature. |
