中文（臺灣）：鳳林鎮過去被阿美族語稱為：「馬里勿」，意思是「上坡」，傳言鳳林鎮在早年林木茂盛，處處滋生著木蘭，攀纏著樹林而上。其形狀就好像是「鳳凰展翅」的形象，待漢人遷徒來此墾荒後，以其形取名稱為鳳林。當時在這裡有個長橋里一直是過往「馬里勿」的中心，在東線鐵路架鐵橋（即萬里橋），中華民國政府來到臺灣後才改成現今的長橋。附近有一條溪，名為「萬里溪」，又被稱為「萬里橋溪」，昔日稱「馬里勿溪」或「森坂溪」，為花蓮溪其中一條支流。在其流域中除了著名的林場「林田山」之外，在其中游也有「萬榮溫泉」，又稱為「鴛鴦谷溫泉」，皆是相當重要的觀光景點。萬里溪同時也是臺灣河川中，少數沒有攔砂壩的河流。此影像收錄於《顧我洄瀾：花蓮歷史影像集》一書，為葉柏強先生撰寫、花蓮縣文化局於2016年（民國105年）出版。書中記錄了花蓮近百年的城市樣貌，是一本擁有豐富文史與圖像資料的書籍。 |
