中文（臺灣）：本文概述了旗山地區聚落形成的過程，自清代居民移居此地，歷經日治時期臺灣總督府的近現代化規劃與建設，今通稱此地為「旗山」地名也成為大眾對該區的泛稱，也讓旗山街的的規畫有初步的雛型。
本文雖分為16點來討論旗山街，但實則可分為三大部分來看，一為旗山街的形成與近現代化的基礎建設，各項建設提升旗山街的行政層級，對外交通便利，能迅速蒐羅外銷鄰近區域農作，促進旗山街政治、經濟的發展；二為飲用水水道建設，改善旗山街的環境衛生，去除疫病的產生、傳染；三為介紹旗山街仿巴洛克式建築（洋房）的沿革與形成，除了了解洋房牌樓（山牆）細膩浮雕洗石法工藝，從藝術層面認識旗山街美景，並可探知旗山街自日治時代的建設規劃後，已成為北高雄重要的經濟發展地區。 綜上所述，本篇以記錄平述的筆法，將旗山地區的發展沿革一一描述，也可從中初步了解旗山地區的政治、經濟、民生、衛生、藝術等方面的沿革。 |
