English: Unfortunately in 1882, Guangfu Temple was devastated by a big fire; in 1888 Chen Zhaogang, a member of the gentry from Xinzhu, recruited Hakka descendents of the Chaozhou area to rebuild it. In 1936 during the Japanese administration, because part of the structure was decayed, Zheng Furen went about fundraising for reconstruction of the temple in its present form. |
