| Description |
中文（繁體）：1925年（大正14年），由國費配合地方費補助之下，開始新竹水道建設。1929年(昭和4年)，3月15日舉行完工通水典禮。總工程經費106萬5千日圓(約為新竹街歲入總額四倍以上)，總督府補助二分之一，新竹州廳補助四分之一，剩餘四分之一則由新竹街向銀行貸款，分17年償還本息。
新竹街於日治時期經市區改正後，市街工商業日益繁榮，衛生飲用水供給成為當時首要建設之設施。有鑑於此，臺灣總督府於1914年(大正3年)即開始規劃新竹街的水道建設。後因經費問題，幾經波折，終於1925年(大正14年)正式開工，並於1929年(昭和4年)完工通水。
