English: Silver adornments, namely jewelry which is mostly handmade and features intricate carvings and elaborate motifs, are a symbol of status and wealth within ethnic communities in the Southwest. Whether designed using openwork or engraved, these items demonstrate the skillful craftsmanship of ethnic minority groups in the pre-industrial era. This affluence is then put on display during important festivals village activities by women who wear numerous pieces to demarcate both individual status and family wealth.
