中文（中国大陆）：位于中国福建泉州市鲤城区西街（从前的西城外），于唐武后垂拱二年（686年）由黄守恭开创，有逾1300年历史。
泉州开元寺是我国东南沿海重要的文物古迹，也是福建省内规模最大的佛教寺院。开元寺位于市区西街，建于唐垂拱二年（公元686年），原名莲花寺，后改名为兴教寺、龙兴寺。唐开元二十六年（公元738年），唐玄宗诏天下诸州各建一寺，以年号为名，遂改今名。开元寺南北长260米，东西宽300米，占地面积7.8万平方米，现存仅为原来的十分之一二。在宋、元鼎盛时期有寺院120所
