Description
中文（臺灣）：平溪施放天燈的由來，可追溯至清朝道光年間，在平溪一帶開墾的居民，不堪盜匪作亂騷擾聚落，而避難山中，等到危機過後，留守村內的人們以施放天燈做為報平安的信號，通知家人返鄉，後來時局安定後，就保留下來變成地方的習俗，村民也時常將祈福、許願的詞句寫在天燈上，在農曆年正月十五的元宵節施放，祈求一年所想的願望，並讓上天眾神保佑闔家平安，因此天燈又被稱為「祈福燈」或「平安燈」。
