Summary
English: Anping Fort, Taiwan's oldest castle, was originally built by the Dutch in 1624, initially called the city of Orange, later Fort Zeelandia. The site of the remains of Fort Zeelandia has been listed as a national monument.
The watchtower, which is usually mistaken for the monument by visitors, was built during the Japanese colonial era. The area was renamed Anping by Koxinga in 1661, therefore Fort Zeelandia is also known as Taiwan City, Lord's City, Anping City. |
