Description
中文(臺灣):日治時期,南方澳漁港建成後,日本政府有計劃地移民日本漁民到南方澳定居,隨著漁民的增加,為應付船隻維修問題,造船廠及維修船機的工廠也因應而生,,初期計有福島、中町、川崎等造船廠,二次大戰期間統統被整編為「蘇澳造船廠」服務軍用需求。 1944年,許多漁船由於戰爭需要而被徵調,陸上的建築也因轟炸而大部毀損,整個漁港顯得殘破不堪,後隨著日本人被遣返,南方澳的漁業人口幾乎消失泰半,不過天生豐富的漁業資源不久就吸引來自全省各地的漁民向此聚集,光復後不過十多年間,居住面積才二平方公里的南方澳,便聚集了大約二萬五千多的人口,成了世界人口密度第一的漁村,也成了戰後淘金的最佳夢土,許多青年湧入這裡,整個漁村充滿了朝氣,各行各業也隨著大量增加的人口因應而生。漁業的需求,造就了幾家大型的造船廠和機械鐵工廠,南方澳最多時計有蘇澳、南海、增福、五洲及大晉等五大造船廠。由於科技的進步,造船材料從木造、鐵殼、塑鋼至鋁合金等原料的更迭應用,終其目的就是增強漁船航行海面能耐風浪及在海上作業的穩定性。近年因漁獲量減少,從事漁業人口銳減,打造新船的機會也漸少,目前真正服務在地漁船的造船廠只剩大晉一家。
