Description
日本語: 秋田県北秋田郡上小阿仁村八木沢集落に残された「蔵」。江戸時代後期の建造物と思われる。

　集落は文化10（1813）年、秋田懸北秋田郡荒瀬村根子（現北秋田市）のマタギ衆によって切り開かれた。昭和３0年代、２０棟ほどの蔵が建ちならぶ活気のある集落だったが、いまは当時の面影もなく空間のなかに4棟の蔵だけがポツポツと点在する。「蔵」のなかにわずかではあるが近世のマタギ狩猟用具などの史料が収蔵されていた。その史料から近世、集落は盛んにマタギ文化が営まれていたと思われる。木造二階建て、クギはいっさい使っておらず、梁や柱・土台はスギやナラ材の巨木で窓は二つ北東と南西側にあるだけで歴史が重く漂う。

　八木沢集落はマタギ文化が意匠的、構造的に最も発達していたことを裏付けられる貴重な遺産だと思われる。江戸、明治、昭和と当時の面影を固持するかのようにたたずむ。
