園閣は昭和初期に大倉財閥のシンボルタワーとして、伊藤忠太博士設計、大倉土木施工で出来た祇園祭山鉾を模した高楼です。 戦後四条河原町の大雲院移転に伴い、その所有となりました。 大雲院とは織田信忠の法号で、信長信忠父子の菩提のため正親町天皇の勅命によって開かれた由緒のお寺です。
