鄂博（オポ）と言ふのは蒙古の地の神であるあらゆる意味の生產神として、豐饒、繁殖、求子、發財、招財の神として崇拜され、時には旗の境界ともなり、又或は道路や渡河點の標識ともなる。その形式は多種多樣だ。地方によつて違ふ。此の雪の沙漠に突立つてゐるのは、柳條を束ねたもので、柳條鄂博と言ふべきものだ。｜（一九三〇撮影）（印畫の複製を禁ず）
