弘浪山頂に、天平宝寺元年（757）に法道仙人により開基され、鎌倉時代に源頼朝の命により東大寺住職俊乗坊重源が復興した古刹であるが、昭和33年奥常楽の地に移築しました。ご本尊は十一面観音菩薩で、仁王門は重層で、三手先の組物や、通し貫などに東大寺様式が偲ばれます。広大な境内の緑の中に朱塗りの山門がひときわ美しい。鎌倉時代の阿弥陀如来像、三千仏掛軸、俵藤太秀郷一代記絵巻物、高山寺縁起、両界曼陀羅図などの文化財があります。また、常楽子安地蔵は、子宝に恵まれない人、安産を願う人、子供の成長を願う人で参詣が多いところだ。 |
