Summary

[edit]
Description It's quite common that they make you take your shoes off before entering temples. In the case of Eikan-do Zenrin-ji, which is a complex of many buildings connected by wood walkways, this can mean walking for an hour or more in your socks, or, if they are available, borrowing slippers from the temple itself. Shaowen didn't like either of these options and came up with an ingenious solution: she brought an extra pair of socks to serve as temple slippers. This both provided some extra warmth (it was December, after all) and also under-foot softness, without having to wear public slippers!
