中文（臺灣）：位於南投集集大橋下，濁水溪右岸的石壁上，清同治年間中路統領吳光亮奉命「開山撫番」，抵達該處因兩岸地勢險要，且無法繞山而過，最後改從溪底通過，並在石壁上刻寫「開闢鴻荒」，表示進到化外之地，身負開闢拓荒重任。 |
