Description
English: Common names- Popping Pod; Duppy Gun ;Cracker Plant .

Botanical name - Ruellia tuberose . In Tamil Siddha system it is a powerful medicine to heal chronic skin- wounds. Kids create pop sound by rubbing the dry pods with saliva; In Tamil Siddha treatments the plant is used as diuretic (increases the excretion of urine), anti-diabetic (treating diabetic patients), antipyretic(Fever remedy), analgesic(Pain killer), antihypertensive (against blood pressure). பட்டாசுக்காய்ச் செடி என்றும் இஃது அறியப்படும்; சிறார்கள் ,நெற்றை எச்சிலில் தடவிச் கையில் தேய்த்து ‘டப்’என்ற ஓசை கிளப்புவர் ! சித்த மருத்துவத்தில் நாள்பட்ட ஆறாத ‘கிரந்திப் புண்’ எனப்படும் தோல் புண்ணுக்கு இச் செடியின் சாற்றைப் புண்ணின் மேலே தடவுவர். பால்வினை காரணமாக ஏற்படும் பிறப்பு உறுப்பு நோய்களுக்கு இச் செடி மருந்தாகிறது; பூ , வெளிர் ஊதா நிறத்தில் இருக்கும் ; பூவின் நடுவே அடர் ஊதா நிறம் இருக்கும்.

துணிக்கு இயற்கைச் சாயம் ஏற்ற இது பயன்பட்டுள்ளது.
