| Description |
English: Package Mountain is. Situated in the south of the Western_Ghats- Anaimalai Hills. It is also known as the Agathiyar Mountain. Bodhi Mountain is situated in Thiruvananthapuram district and part of the state of Tamil Nadu. Its height is 1,866 meters. It is from this mountain that the main river of Tamil Nadu, the Tamraparani River, originates.
Caṅka kālattil potiyam eṉṟum, potiyil eṉṟum vaḻaṅkappaṭṭa malaiyai ikkālattil potikaimalai eṉṟum kūṟuvar. Caṅkakālattil vaiyai eṉa vaḻaṅkappaṭṭa āṟṟai ikkālattil vaikai eṉavum vaḻaṅkuvatu pōṉṟatu itu. Vaṭakkil imayamalaiyum, teṟkil potiyamalaiyum tamiḻar ceṉṟuvantu kaṇṭa ōṅki uyarnta malaikaḷ. It is said that the mountain that was given as a package during the Sangam period and as a package was called Pothigamalai at this time. This is the same as the Vaigai river which was given as Vaigai during the Sangam period. Himalayas in the north and Pothiyamalai in the south are the highest peaks of the Tamils.தமிழ்: பொதிகை மலை என்பது. மேற்குத்தொடர்ச்சி மலைகளில் தென்பகுதியில் ஆனைமலைத்தொடாில் அமைந்துள்ளது. இதற்கு அகத்தியர் மலை என்று மற்றொரு பெயரும் உண்டு.பொதிகை மலை கேரள மாநிலம், திருவனந்தபுரம் மாவட்டத்திலும், ஒருபகுதி தமிழ்நாடு மாநிலம் திருநெல்வேலி மாவட்டத்திலும் அமைந்துள்ளது. இதன் உயரம் 1,866 மீட்டா்கள் ஆகும். இந்த மலையிலிருந்து தான் தமிழ்நாட்டின் முக்கிய நதியான தாமிரபரணி ஆறு உருவாகிறது.
சங்க காலத்தில் பொதியம் என்றும், பொதியில் என்றும் வழங்கப்பட்ட மலையை இக்காலத்தில் பொதிகைமலை என்றும் கூறுவர். சங்ககாலத்தில் வையை என வழங்கப்பட்ட ஆற்றை இக்காலத்தில் வைகை எனவும் வழங்குவது போன்றது இது. வடக்கில் இமயமலையும், தெற்கில் பொதியமலையும் தமிழர் சென்றுவந்து கண்ட ஓங்கி உயர்ந்த மலைகள். |
