فارسی: ژان دیولافوا در کتاب خاطراتش راجع به کاخ آپادانای شوش می‌گوید: دیروز گاو سنگی بزرگی را که در روزهای اخیر پیدا شده است با تاسف تماشا می‌کردم. نزدیک دوازده هزار کیلو وزن دارد! تکان دادن چنین توده‌ی عظیمی ناممکن است. بالاخره نتوانستم به خشم خود مسلط شوم، پتکی به دست گرفتم و به جان حیوان سنگی افتادم. ضربه‌های وحشیانه به او زدم. سرستون در نتیجه‌ی ضربه‌های پتک مانند میوه‌ی رسیده از هم شکافت. یک تکه سنگ بزرگ از آن پرید و از جلوی ما رد شد، اگر با چالاکی خودمان را کنار نمی‌کشیدیم پایمان را خرد می‌کرد.
