العربية: يعتبر الخط الحديدي الحجازي من معالم التراث المرتبطة بتاريخ الأردن الحديث
لارتباطه بالثورة العربيـــــة الكبرى في أيلول عام 1900 وجه السلطان عبد الحميد نداءً إلى المسلمين في كافة أنحاء العالم لجمع التبرعات لإنشاء خط حديدي بين دمشق والأماكن المقدسة ، وذلك لتــسهيل نقل الحجاج ، وقد قوبل نداءه هذا بالحماس والدعم الشديدين من كافة المسلمين . قدرت كلفة المشروع بحوالي خمسة ملايين ليرة ذهب عثماني تم توفيرها من التبرعات من السكان وعائدات الدولة العثمانية من خلال بيع الطوابع واستثمار الفوسفات قرب السلط و المياه المعدنية في منطقة الحمة اضافة الى ذلك قامت الحكومة العثمانية بفرض ضريبة خاصة للخط الحديدي على كافة المواطنين هذا وقد ساهمت عدة عوامل في تخفيض نفقات المشروع كالاستعانة بأفراد الجيش والمتطوعين من المواطنين في عمليات الإنشاء والبناء والاستفادة من التبرعات بالمواد من المناطق المتاخمة لانشاء الخط
