Description
  • العربية: شبام هي بلدة أثرية ومركز مديرية شبام في محافظة حضرموت في شرق اليمن. تشكل المدينة المسوّرة التي تعود إلى القرن السادس عشر أحد أقدم النماذج وأفضلها للتنظيم المدني الدقيق المرتكز على مبدأ البناء العمودي. وتعود تسميتها "بمانهاتن الصحراء" إلى مبانيها البرجية الشاهقة المنبثقة من الطين، يبلغ تعداد سكانها 16094 نسمة حسب الإحصاء الذي جرى عام 2004.

  • English: Shabam is an archaeological town and the center of the Directorate of Shabam in Hadramout Governorate in East Yemen. The 16th-century walled city is one of the oldest and best models of precise civil organization based on the principle of vertical construction. It is called "Desert Manhattan" due to its towering tower buildings emanating from mud, with a population of 16,094 according to the 2004 census.
