Description
עברית: אוניית המעפילים 'ברכה פולד', נקראה על שמה של לוחמת הפלמ"ח ברכה פולד, שנהרגה במרץ 1946, בעת שנלחמה ב'ליל וינגיט'. פולד יצאה בתאריך 16.10.1946 מאזור מנטפונטו שבדרום איטליה, עם כ-600 מעפילים. בדרך, הצטרפו לאונייה עוד כ-180 מעפילים מאוניית 'אלברטינה' ובסה"כ הגיעו לישראל עם 819 מעפילים. בדרכם לישראל, נתקלו הנוסעים בקשיים ומסעם התארך מעבר למצופה וזאת בעקבות סערות ותקלות טכניות בספינה. כאשר הגיעה האונייה לאזור קפריסין, התגלתה על ידי מטוסי סיור של הבריטים ונגררה לחופי חיפה. בהגיעה לחיפה, בתאריך 22.10.1946, צולמה התמונה. מחיפה גורשו המעפילים על ידי אוניות בריטיות למחנה קאראולוס בקפריסין, שם שהו עד אפריל 1948.
