На Крестовоздвиженскую площадь Тулы выходит здание, которое вполне могло бы стать одной из визитных карточек горда - настолько оно оригинально и узнаваемо. Занимает оно квартал между Денисовским переулком и улицей Революции. Однако возведено оно было в 1899 году на участке, принадлежавшем тульскому рыбопромышленнику Игнатию Платонову. На первом этаже здания размещались склады и магазины. Внутри магазинов, а летом и снаружи, стояли аквариумы с рыбой. На втором этаже располагалась городская Дума. В предреволюционные годы здесь же находилась и городская Управа. В 1937 году здание подверглось реконструкции, был надстроен третий этаж, здание бывшей думы соединили со стоящим рядом особняком Ливенцевых. На фотографиях представлена северная сторона особняка Ливенцевых, выходящая в Денисовский переулок, - задний, дворовый фасад. Парадный фасад, выходящий на нынешнюю улицу Революции скрыт зданием Дворца детского и юношеского творчества, и разглядеть его можно лишь с трудом из узкого щелевидного дворика между ливенцевским особняком и позднейшей постройкой. Сегодня в Денисовском переулке доживают свой век два прекрасных архитектурных памятника барокко 1760-х годов - особняк Ливенцевых (представлены на фото) и въездные ворота в их усадьбу (стыдно фотографировать).
