Одоевская башня выходит на проспект Ленина в месте, где когда-то начиналась укрепленная линия «Завитай», под защитой которого был древний тракт на древний русский город Одоев, один из главных княжих городов Одоево-Новосильского княжества. Второе название ее - Казанская - т.к. на ее фасаде, в нише, располагалась икона Казанской Божией Матери. На месте современного проезда располагалась бойница, а проезд находился сбоку, с юго-западной стороны. Башня была перестроена в 1784 году и получила надстройку с куполом.
