Description
Українська: Самиця скорпіонниці звичайної (Panorpa communis L., 1758) from the genus Panorpa Linnaeus, 1758 family Скорпіонниці (Panorpidae Linnaeus, 1758). Вид поширений на всій території України. Звичайний у лісах, чагарниках та садах. Літ імаго спостерігається в травні — липні. Дорослі скорпіонниці не нападають на живих комах, але охоче живляться їх свіжими трупами, інколи живляться трупами хребетних тварин, часто висисають нектар квітів. Запліднена самка відкладає яйця в підстилку, через 8 днів виходять личинки, які в місяць досягають повного зросту і потім зариваються глибше, роблячи порожнину для заляльковування, де лежать від 10 днів до 2 тижнів, потім обертаються в лялечку і через 2 тижні перетворюються на дорослу комаху. Протягом літа може вирости два покоління, останнє з яких зимує в стадії личинки або лялечки.
English: A female common scorpionfly (Panorpa communis L., 1758) from the genus Panorpa Linnaeus, 1758 family Panorpidae Linnaeus, 1758. The species is widespread throughout Ukraine. Common in forests, shrubs and gardens. The adult summer is observed in May - July. Adult scorpions do not attack live insects, but willingly feed on their fresh corpses, sometimes they feed on the corpses of vertebrates, often suck the nectar of flowers. The fertilized female lays eggs in the litter, after 8 days the larvae emerge, which reach full growth in a month and then burrow deeper, making a cavity for pupation, where they lie from 10 days to 2 weeks, then turn into a pupa and after 2 weeks turn into an adult insect . During the summer, two generations can grow, the last of which overwinters in the larval or pupal stage.
