Українська: Саговник відгорнений (Cycas revoluta Thunb., 1782) з роду Саговник (Cycas L., 1753) родини Саговникові (Cycadaceae Pers., 1807, nom. cons.).
Саговник або саговникова пальма, є дуже древнім представником рослинного світу, що зберігся з юрського періоду. З пальмами має лише зовнішню подібність. Це вічнозелена рослина, схожа на пальму, з циліндричним стовбуром. Листя луски трикутно-яйцеподібні, черешки мають шипи, в молодому віці густо вкриті жовто-бурим повстю. Живильні листки яйцевидно-ланцетні. Чоловічі шишки циліндричні. Батьківщиною цієї рослини є субтропічна Японія, зокрема острови Кюсю і Рюкю. Його також можна знайти в провінції Фуцзянь, Китай. Рослина росте переважно в субтропічному біомі. Він використовується як ліки, має екологічне використання та для їжі. Може жити більше ста років. У культивуванні саговник витримує невеликі заморозки, що робить його відомим далеко за межами його природного ареалу. В Україні вирощується в оранжереях ботанічних садів; культивується на Чорноморського узбережжі Криму у відкритому ґрунті. Його також можна вирощувати як кімнатну рослину, у цьому випадку воно зазвичай виростає не більше 60 см у висоту. Віддає перевагу добре дренованим ґрунтам. Sago palm, is a very ancient representative of the plant world, preserved since the Jurassic period. The name "Cycas" means "palm", but it is related to palms only in some external features. It is an evergreen plant that appears palm-like, with a cylindrical trunk. The scale leaves are triangular-ovate, the leaf stalks have thorns, and they are densely covered with yellow-brown felt when young. The nutritional leaves are ovate-lanceolate. Male cones are cylindrical. This plant is native to subtropical Japan, specifically the Kyushu and Ryukyu Islands. It can also be found in Fujian, China. The plant grows primarily in the subtropical biome. It is used as a medicine, has environmental uses, and for food. It can live for more than a hundred years. In cultivation, it can withstand slight frosts, making it known far beyond its natural range. In Ukraine, it is grown in greenhouses of botanical gardens; cultivated on the Black Sea coast of Crimea in open ground. It can also be grown as a houseplant, in which case it usually grows no more than 60 cm tall. Like all cycads, it prefers well-drained soil.
