В христианстве Гефсиманский сад - одно из мест, связанных со Страстями Христа, и является местом христианского паломничества. Известно, что на месте моления Иисуса в IV в. была построена византийская церковь, позднее разрушенная. В середине XII в. была построена новая церковь, впоследствии также разрушенная. С 1681 г. Гефсиманский сад находится в собственности францисканцев, в 1848 г. его обнесли каменной оградой. Gethsemane is a garden at the foot of the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem most famous as the place where Jesus and his disciples prayed the night before Jesus' crucifixion. According to the New Testament it was a place that Jesus and his disciples customarily visited, which allowed Judas to find him on the night of his arrest. English: Mount of Olives
