Русский: Андрей Васильевич Ковалёв (слева, уроженец Могилёвской губернии, около 1880 гр., побывал в японском плену) и неизвестный со штыком (справа), младшие унтер-офицеры 2-й Восточно-Сибирской роты искрового телеграфа. На погонах — металлический спецзнак у нижних чинов (специальный погонный знак телеграфных частей Российской императорской армии (1865—1914 гг.)). Такого типа знаки на погонах могли позволить себе только элитные части. А искровой телеграф был в то время новейшей технологией, и специалисты, которые служили были элитой войск. Нехарактерный светлый цвет тульи фуражек, скорее всего, связан с тем, что это чехол, который шили из солдатских рубах. Награды А. В.
