О ктиторима и времену градње постоји више претпоставки, предања и различитих доказа, На ктиторској композицији исписана су имена: Оливер, Дејан, Брата, и Константин, Приликом ископавања пронађени су остаци сахрањене породице ктитора, Први пут се помиње у Повељи кнеза Лазара манастиру Светог Пантелејмона на Светој Гори, Према турски пописима живот у манастиру може се пратити до краја 16. века, Обновљен је у доба кнеза Милоша Обреновића,

У анализама се истиче сличност са црквом Лазарицом, али и докази да је задужбина деспота Иваниша.

There are several assumptions, legends and various proofs about the founders and the time of construction, The names are written on the founder's composition: Oliver, Dejan, Brata, and Konstantin, During the excavation, the remains of the buried family of the founders were found, It is first mentioned in the Charter of Prince Lazarus to the monastery of St. Panteleimon on the Holy Mountain, According to Turkish censuses, life in the monastery can be traced back to the end of the 16th century, It was restored in the time of Prince Miloš Obrenović,

The analysis points out the similarity with the Lazarica church, but also the evidence that it is the endowment of despot Ivaniš.
