Description |
Одна из ранних жанровых картин Виктора Васнецова, кажется, совсем не предвещает сказочных и былинных композиций его последующего творчества, таких, как «Аленушка» или «Три богатыря». Русско-турецкая война 1877–1878 годов вызвала патриотический подъем в русском обществе, стремление освободить болгар от турецкого ига. Турецкая крепость Карс была взята штурмом российскими войсками под командованием генерала И.Д. Лазарева после продолжительной осады в ночь на 6 (18) ноября 1877 года. Это был важный эпизод войны. Сюжет картины развернут и легко «читается»: в газетах опубликовано правительственное сообщение о падении крепости Карс, весть о победе русских войск горячо обсуждается трактирными завсегдатаями и случайными прохожими. Трактирщик в патриотическом усердии водружает на своем заведении флаг, ему помогает отставной солдат. Старушка утирает слёзы. Взрослые и дети захвачены этим событием. Картина впервые была показана на VI выставке передвижников (1878). |
