English: Markovi Kuli as the protected areas as part of the geoheritage of a granite complex, as a whole, consists of several imposing heaps connected in two parallel series with a direction of extension north-northwest/south-southeast, whose altitude gradually increases from south to north. The western range consists of the hills Markovi Kuli (945 m), Zelenik (993 m), Javi Steni (1,153 m), Zagradski Steni (1,231 m) and Marmorski Rid (988 m), while the eastern range begins with Kukul (980 m), Glavica (1,033 m), Edinok (1,303 m) and Surun (1,077 m). These two rows of mounds are separated from each other by the valley of the Dabnička River and in the northern part are connected to the highest peaks of this area - Zlatovrv (1,422 m) and Lipa (1,392 m), which stretch in a transverse direction southwest-northeast.In this entire massif of granitoids, there are microrelief forms in the form of pillars, teeth, group and solitary blocks, mushroom shapes, balls, as well as small depressions in the rocks, known among the people of this region as Mark's footprints. Some of these complex geomorphological shapes have gigantic dimensions weighing several hundred tons each. In the genesis of the specific forms of relief, the relaxation processes of an endogenous nature of the acidic magmatic product of the granitoids, which were then additionally followed by exogenous-denudation processes, through the chemical influence of water, the action of humic acids, which release the lichens and mosses that cover the rocks, the mechanical effect of temperature fluctuations, the freezing of water in rock cracks and air currents. |
