Description
Русский: Асуанская плотина до сих пор считается инженерным шедевром. Длина по гребню – 3600 метров, ширина основания – 980 метров, высота – 111 метров, объем – 43 млн. куб. метров. Для осущкствления проекта был объявлен конкурс, в котором приняли участие специалисты из Англии, Франции, Голландии, Швеции и СССР. Победа досталась лидеру мирового гидростроительства. Лучшей была признана разработка московского института «Гидроэлектропроект». 
    Советские инженеры приняли решение строить насыпную плотину, использовать местный материал. По своему объему плотина в 17 раз превышала знаменитую пирамиду Хеопса.
    Технологию сооружения тщательно проверяли. Изучили рельеф местности – нашли похожий в Украине в наших местах. На территории запорожского карьера построили уменьшенную в 50 раз копию Асуанской плотины, вернее, копию всего одного пролета. Два года выполнял работы знаменитый «Днепрострой». Но вот испытания были всего несколько месяцев: по ним специалисты корректировали проект, выбирая нужный вариант.
В гранитном карьере до сих пор сохранилась копия Асуанской плотины.
