| Description |
Žaliasis tiltas, Lithuanian for "the green bridge", is a 102 meter long bridge across the River Neris in Vilnius, Lithuania. It is the oldest bridge in the city and connects the city center with Šnipiškės. There has been a number of wooden and steel bridges at this site over the years, but all were burned down or blown up, so the present-day bridge was completed as recently as 1952 and named after Soviet General Ivan Chernyakhovsky. However, after the declaration of independence in 1990, the bridge regained its historical name. |
