CIMETIÈRE DE NOTRE-DAME ancien cimetière de Notre-Dame est trop curieux pour quenous ne le signalions pas à lattention des archéo-logues. Il nous est impossible de savoir si, primitivement, le cimetièrede la paroisse entourait léglise, selon le pieux usage généralementobservé par nos pères, qui voulaient rappeler aux vivants la penséede la mort et lobligation de prier pour les défunts : toujours est-ilque le cimetière de Notre-Dame était, dès le xvic siècle, établi à laporte de Mortagne, assez prés de léglise, à un endroit appeléSaint-Thomas et que les anciens désignent toujours ainsi. Ce nomnous fait supposer quautrefois il y avait là une chapelle ou unoratoire dédié à S.
