The small windows - compared to a standard modern all-glass office buildings - are inspired by the warehouses from the 1700s and 1800s that used to dot the piers of Port of Copenhagen. They are also a sign of the building's energy efficiency. Another low energy trick this building employs is less visible: Sea water is pumped through the building to provide cooling in summer and heating in the winter. The pumps use solar power.
