Summary

[edit]
Description
English: This was a private commission from Cllr. Adam Schofield, Mayor of Macclesfield.

The portrait is based on a painting depicting Sir Christopher Wren, the famous architect, as the Mayor is a highly skilled architectural illustrator. Within the painting, St. Michael's church can be seen in the background. This is a dominant landmark of the historic town of Macclesfield. The painting was unveiled at the Silk Museum, Macclesfield on the 11th of May 2019. At the unveiling were many Mayors including The Right Worshipful Mayor and Mayoress of Chester, The Mayor of Cheshire East, The Mayor of Congleton, The Mayor and Mayoress of Macclesfield and their consorts as well as many ex-Mayors and councillors. “I am delighted that Michael approached me with the idea of having my portrait painted as a lasting memory of my time as Mayor of Macclesfield. As an artist myself, I truly appreciate the talent that Michael has and am delighted that I could support him with this private commission. I plan to donate the painting to the town hall to sit with the collection of other Mayoral portraits that line the walls so proudly, acting as a reminder of our heritage and traditions.” (Mayor of Macclesfield, May, 2019)

This painting has been donated to the Macclesfield Town Hall where it will hang for the foreseeable future.
