Summary
[edit]Description'The Maid's Head' inn at Wicken - geograph.org.uk - 507439.jpg |
English: 'The Maid's Head' inn at Wicken It has had its name since the late 1760s and stands on the site of a timberframed 15th century hall house. The two-storeyed greybrick block, built to the west in 1852, probably provided a clubroom serving both local benefit societies and a Conservative club that started in 1895. The still thatched east part was gutted by fire in 1983 and was swiftly rebuilt in 1984-5 to its former design.
