Summary
[edit]Description'Silver Coquet' fishing coble, Cullercoats - geograph.org.uk - 1634035.jpg |
English: 'Silver Coquet' fishing coble, Cullercoats Originally registered at Blyth as BH63 it now has the external mark LH576, a Leith registration. It is a wooden coble made in Amble in 1960 sadly laid up in the top yard at Cullercoats http://www.trawlerpictures.net/index.php?action=gallery;sa=view;id=10290
In 2002, this was the last salmon coble operating out of Cullercoats where there had been a 100, a century earlier. Offshore drift-net fishing for salmon and sea trout in the North East came to an end in concern for fish stocks http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_6783/is_2007_Sept_10/ai_n28453051/ |
