Description

Ever so many loving thanks to Aunt Jessie for lovely presents. John Ballantine Turner

Real photo postcard. Postally used. Cancellation date of 13 July, 1906.

Bought from an eBay seller in Old Kilpatrick, Dunbartonshire, Scotland.

Sent from Mrs. Turner, Sunderland, to Mrs. Dalgleish, Westbourne, Eskbank, Dalkeith. The message reads: "Glad you are keeping better. If you are able to come next week, we shall just be delighted to see you but don't risk anything - you know you are welcome whenever you come. Dearest love, E. H. T."

I believe the youngest child pictured in the middle is <a href="http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MTAwMFg2NjA=/z/N04AAOSwImRYmd6S/$_57.JPG" rel="noreferrer nofollow">John Ballantyne Turner</a> (note spelling variation). E. H. T. is presumably the children's mother.

<a href="http://www.robertburns.org/encyclopedia/Mossgiel.656.shtml" rel="noreferrer nofollow">Mossgiel</a> was the name of the farm that the poet Robert Burns and his brother Gilbert leased from 1784-1786 near Lochlea, Ayrshire, Scotland. Many have named their houses after the Bard's farm, and there's even a former township on the Cobb Highway in New South Wales, Australia named after the farm by Scots immigrants (<a href="https://www.google.com/maps/@-33.255126,144.5679994,3a,75y,48.58h,94.26t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1skBno8R7J6thsYCK7RmMaQw!2e0!7i13312!8i6656?hl=en" rel="noreferrer nofollow">now almost non-existent</a>).
