De letters A en M uit het logo I AMsterdam zijn verdwenen van het Amsterdamse Museumplein. De directeur van Amsterdam Partners, Charles van Renesse, bevestigde dit dinsdag 23 februari 2010. Amsterdam Partners is de initiatiefnemer van de plaatsing van de 2 meter hoge letters. Veel toeristen in Amsterdam laten zich fotograferen bij het 24 meter lange logo.” Gefeliciteerd dan maar. Als zelfs het ANP er intrapt, is je viral marketing campagne goed gelukt. De eigenaar van de metershoge, 200 kilo zware, met stalen balken verankerde letters begreep er zogenaamd niets van. Hoe konden de dieven zoiets zwaars in hemelsnaam ongezien meenemen? Wat het persbericht niet vermeldde, is dat de twee letters waren vervangen door een reusachtige origami-vogel. Gamesites begrepen dan ook meteen wat er aan de hand was: de Origami Killer heeft toegeslagen in Nederland. En dat precies in de week dat het PlayStation 3-spel Heavy Rain uitkomt in Europa. Mooie stunt. Landelijke publiciteit bereikt, al vraag ik me altijd af of zulke acties ook echt helpen om meer spellen te verkopen. Bron: Gamesblog.nl |
