English: Ian Shields, chairman of the Military Airlift event introduces, keynote speaker, Maj. Gen. William Bender, Expeditionary Center commander, who addressed representatives from NATO and the U.S. at the conference in London, Sept. 26, 2012. Bender made it clear that open dialogue between partner nations is critical to the success of future coalition operations. A total of eight different nations partaking in NATO attended the event, including France, Belgium and the Netherlands. Additionally, the general made a site visit to RAF Mildenhall's 727th Air Mobility Squadron, a tenant unit there under his chain of command.
