[edit]Description'Dragons' Display Osprey for JASDF on Futenma 141030-M-TF269-738.jpg |
English: U.S. Marine Corps Maj. Eric J. Mattson, left, from Plantsville, Connecticut, speaks with Japan Air Self-Defense Force Maj. Gen. Hiroyoshi Oura about the different capabilities of the MV-22B Osprey tiltrotor aircraft Oct. 30 at Marine Corps Air Station Futenma. The Osprey’s versatility is attributed to the fact that it combines the capability of a helicopter with the speed and range of a fixed-wing aircraft and has the ability to fly twice as fast, carry nearly three times the payload and has four times the range of the CH-46E Sea Knight helicopter. Mattson is the civil-affairs team leader for Civil Affairs Command Element, III Marine Expeditionary Force, and Oura is the commanding general of the JASDF Air Officer Candidate School.
